a new leaf

As in literally... :) today i raked out a place for us to put the garden beds in! We measured, and built, and shaped, and dreamed the day away. The back part of the yard was cleared and is all ready for the beds! Hopefully the soil will be delivered on Wednesday. Which is just perfect since it's my day off. And that makes me happy!! :) I also discovered there's a place to pick up some magic mushroom compost here in town. Which is going to make the garden a wonderful place. I think we should be done building the beds by the time the soil is here. And then it's planting time here in this garden baby!

In my yard today was this beautiful moment, this fleeting chance to be a part of something bigger.

Hot.

Today is super hot! I have to stay on top of my watering because the cantelope likes to wilt fast! WhY??? It's only April! I can't imagine what the summers gonna be like! I took a little advantage of the sun I think because I now have a nice little tan goin on! I love the sunshine. It's a great friend...

Excitement.

     Today is a day of lots of happiness! My new garden is under way! I cannot wait to view my garden bursting with color, swelling with ripeness, and buzzing with life! I am not quite finished..well, is a garden ever finished? ha! But so far I have planted onions, potatoes, tomatoes, lots of different peppers, and cucumbers. Soon as I can get out there, there will be squash and zucchini, watermelons and cantelope, AND the beautiful surprise of sunflowers. AAAaahhh..
     My garden time is quite new to me...I've never actually had a garden of my own before. And just the thought of loading up my harvest basket with fresh veggies makes me grin with delight. :) I will be posting pics soon!
